WHAT ARE YOUR QUESTIONS?

FAQ

Are you considering a Botox treatment for the first time but have questions about what the treatment will be like? Here are some of the most common frequently asked questions we get about Botox:

What is Botox?

Botox is a purified protein, approved by the FDA to temporarily improve moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and horizontal lines on the forehead. It relaxes the facial muscles that contracts and causes expression lines and wrinkles by blocking the nerve signals.

Is Botox safe?

Botox is safe; however, patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain autoimmune diseases should not receive Botox treatments.

What areas are typically treated with botox?

The most common treatment areas are the forehead, frown line (between the eyebrows), lip lines and crow’s feet (eye area). Botox can also be used to soften the dimpling of the chin, relax the jaw muscles to offer a jaw slimming effect and also to help alleviate pain from teeth grinding, but Botox® may also be used to smooth areas of the neck and jawline.

How soon do I see results after receiving Botox?

Results may vary from person to person, but botox starts working in 3-4 days post treatment, and will gradually stop all movement over a period of two weeks. At two weeks, the Botox is fully settled and you should have full relaxation of the areas treated.

How long does Botox last?

On average, Botox treatment last approximately 3-4 months. Over time the body metabolizes the Botox, leading to the slow return of muscle movement in the treatment area.

Is Botox Injection painful?

Treatment is generally quick with minimal discomfort. You will feel a quick sting with each injection that does not persist once the treatment is complete.

Would I need time off for recovery from Botox?

There is no downtime with Botox® injections. You can return to work or your regular routine immediately following treatment with detailed post botox instructions.

Are there any special instructions prior to receiving botox?

A week before the treatment most patients are advised to stop consuming alcohol or taking medications or supplements that thin the blood like aspirin, ibuprofen, Motrin, CoQ10, fish oil, Gingko Biloba, or Ginseng. This will help minimize bruising during and after the injections.

What are the side effects, if any, from Botox injections?

Headaches, swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising are among reported side effects, that will resolve after a few days to a week without intervention.

What is the difference between Botox and Dermal fillers?

Botox are used to relax the muscles and prevent fine lines and Fillers are used to restore volume loss by reducing the appearance of deep folds or wrinkles.

How do I know whether Botox or dermal fillers is right for me?

Complimentary consultations are advised, and we will let you know if fillers and Botox are appropriate for you. During the consultation, we will discuss your wishes, develop a plan, discuss pre and post instructions, cost and what to expect from your treatment.
